Movement and colours – do they go together? The sixth year of Get Rainbowed, an event popular with both athletes and families, proves they do! In the coming weeks, the merry event will be gradually hosted in five Czech cities – Olomouc, Prague, České Budějovice, Ústí nad Labem, and Pardubice.

Fun & run for everyone

The unusual Get Rainbowed run gambles on simplicity and fun. Speed and endurance do not matter and anyone can take part – children, senior citizens, recreational runners, and good sportswomen and sportsmen. You can run the five-kilometre route as fast as possible and pit your strength against other racers, or you can just walk while chatting with your friends. The common factor is a relaxed atmosphere and laughter.

Colour show at five checkpoints

The main idea of “Get Rainbowed” is the five colour zones scattered along the route. At the start, you will see good-looking clean athletes; after they run through the zones where “it’s raining colours”, colourful and smiling people meet at the finish line. They literally “get rainbowed”.

Registration is required

Individuals and teams can register at www.barvamneuteces.cz. The entry fee varies by age and the selected gift package from CZK 200 to CZK 600. Children up to six years of age can run for free in all the cities (without a gift package). The gift package includes a starting number, a T-shirt, bracelets, tattoos, and more. Registration is also possible at www.slevomat.cz where you can read only praise and rave reviews of the last edition of the run.

Dates

The first run of the sixth year will be held in Olomouc on May 4; a week later, you can run in Prague, and another week later, in České Budějovice. In Ústí nad Labem, people will “get rainbowed” on Children’s Day, June 1, and in Pardubice, on August 17. For more information about the route, see the website a week before the specific date.

Overheard at the backstage

Besides the great atmosphere, participants can look forward to a lot of competitions, games, workshops, a tombola, and other fun activities. After the run, they can also have a shower and some refreshment. The participants of the last editions of the run praise the great organization and the ubiquitous good mood, so different from everyday worries. The event is a great tip for a family afternoon with children, it is also suitable for the handicapped, and pets are welcome as well. Just be careful: some colours are difficult to wash out, so wear old and discarded clothes.
